Last Space Remaining at Gazelli Art House, Mayfair

Last Space Remaining, until 24th November, Gazelli Art House, Mayfair

This new exhibition combines works by the Spanish artist Sergio Calderon together with those of Recycle Group, a Russian artist collective.  The exhibition’s theme is our notions of fantasy and reality.

Andrey Blokhin and Georgy Kuznetsov are the two artists who are Recycle Group and they interpret using mixed-media sculptures how the virtual world has become so important through social media sites, with an emphasis on Facebook. They see Facebook as a social system and pose the question what part “of today’s society will survive and become history?”

In contrast Calderon’s interactive installations take an approach which encourages the viewer to become engaged with the artwork and draw on their own ideas and memories.  He challenges our perceptions of reality and suggests that we will never achieve the human perfection we aim at and that we hold onto our personal versions of reality in this ever changing world.
