Orate Pro Nobis:  Six Hundred Years of Saints, Moretti Fine Art , 2A-6 Ryder Street, London SW1, until 15th November

This exhibition shows religious works from the 15^th, 16^th and 17^th centuries, many showing the Madonna and Child with saints.  All have an emotional appeal to the viewer, inspiring contemplative and hopefully spiritual thoughts on the wonders of faith and belief – or not.

In a complementary contrast, well almost, is Gilbert and George’s 1983 work Mouth which is a fusion of the religious and secular.  While it is not perhaps as spiritually calming as some of the earlier works, it is certainly as thought provoking.
