GATHER: THE GALLERY AT LONDON GLASSBLOWING, until 21st MAY
If you liked the works London Glassblowing were showing at Collect 2014 then I warmly recommend that you go to their gallery in Bermondsey Street to see the selling exhibition GATHER which features work by established and talented newer exponents of this ancient craft.
London Glassblowing can be numbered among the leading British studios and galleries for contemporary glass as can be clearly seen in the artists’ original approach to working within this medium.
Among the artists whose works are on show are Peter Layton, London Glassblowing’s founder, Louis Thompson, Layne Rowe and Anthony Scala, and the specially selected ” newcomers” are, Tim Rawlinson, Cathryn Shilling, Bruce Marks, Jochen Ott, Sabrina Cant, Yoshiko Okado and Fiaz Elson as well as Laura McKinley and Elliot Walker.
One of the great features of a visit there is the opportunity to see glassmaking in practice as visitors are welcome to watch. I must admit that I found it a fascinating experience.
