‘Darwin’s Menagerie’, Jamb, 95-97 Pimlico Road, London SW1, until 30th October
Take Jamb’s eclectic, moreish antiques and fireplaces combine with the wonderful birds and animals of Fine Taxidermy (think Dutch Old master painters such as Hondecoeter and Weenix) and finish with TM Lighting’s superb gallery-standard lighting. The result – Perfection!
As Jamb’s founder Will Fisher rightly says “We are predominantly English country house dealers but there is a decadence in Darwin, Sinke and van Tongeren’s work that feels like a direct continuity between a Baroque, bygone age and the contemporary. There is a big interest in taxidermy right now, but this is different to anything previously seen. Jaap and Ferry’s compositions transcend the considerable skill involved and become art. I am proud that Jamb should be the first to put it in front of a wider audience.”
The even better news is they are for sale, so start collecting now – you won’t regret it.
Sadly, I wasn’t able to attend this event but I have since purchased two taxidermy birds from Japp & Ferry and must attest that they are masters of their craft, their work is simply incredible.
I look forward to seeing what the future holds for these very talented gentlemen.
Sorry for the typo on your name, Jaap! 😉
