Now living and working in America the Argentinean-born Analia Saban has her first exhibition in London although it is the third show with Sprüth Magers. The theme is how the viewer’s perception of various artworks can be affected by genre and media. For example Claim (from Chesterfield Sofa) (2014) first appears to be two separate objects but is in fact a single sculptural object, similarly in Draped Marble (Fior di Pesco Apuano) (2015) a slim piece of marble is draped like a damp towel over a sawhorse, challenging our perception of marble as a hard object. She raises the same challenge in her paintings and photography too and in all the media she uses creates works that engage the viewer.
