Gianni Piacentino: Works 1965 – 2006, Michael Werner Gallery, 22 Upper Brook Street London W1, until 20th June 2015
This show traces this Italian artist’s career over five decades. Although one of the founding members of the Arte Povera movement, he soon left to follow his own artistic journey.
His works are hand-crafted with great skill and whether it is one of his earlier minimal works or those recalling his fascination with speed – motorbikes, cars, planes and even monocycles – there is the feeling that the status quo has been thrown into confusion. They are compelling.
